Emerging trends in our diet preferences
During the past year or so, Malaysian diet preferences saw changes due to change in our lifestyles brought about by Government-imposed movement restrictions to curb the spread of the pandemic. With the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 increasing everyday, people are continuing to pay more attention and effort towards how they live, play and eat; consequently, created a shift in their diet preferences.
In general, Malaysians that have some form of diet preferences increased to 83% (1H’21) compared to the Pre-COVID period figure of 79%. The top 5 most preferred diets for Malaysian are less sugar, less oil, low fat, less salt, and low calorie. Based on the data we collected, each and every groups have their own preferred eating habits.
